A journey to Jordanโ€™s strong Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Scene. June 2023.
Mr Lee is still excited about his recent visit to Jordan in June 2023, where he had the incredible opportunity to immerse himself in oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMFS). He was also captivated by the warm hospitality, stunning landscapes, and historical sites that make Jordan a destination. First and foremost, he would like to express his heartfelt gratitude to Prof Rola Alhabashneh and Zaid Tamimi for extending their gracious invitation. Their commitment to sharing knowledge and expertise was evident throughout his entire visit. They provided valuable insights into the technological advancement in dentistry during the scientific day and the study of dentistry and OMFS at Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), which fostered an environment of learning and collaboration that will undoubtedly impact the field for years to come. The energy of oral and maxillofacial surgery in Jordan is intense. When he stepped into the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), he was greeted by a vibrant atmosphere of intellectual curiosity and a commitment to excellence. The level of expertise and dedication exhibited by the faculty and students was genuinely unparalleled, Beyond the confines of the lecture halls and viva exams, Jordan revealed itself as a land of wonders. Exploring Mount Nebo was an absolute treat for the senses. Standing atop this ancient biblical site, he marvelled at the panoramic view that stretched as far as the eye could see. The combination of rolling hills, fantastic landscape, and the shimmering Dead Sea in the distance created a picturesque scene that will forever be etched in his memory. Petra was the crown jewel of Jordan’s archaeological treasures. As he walked through the narrow canyon known as the Siq, anticipation grew with every step. Suddenly, I emerged from the narrow passage to behold the magnificent Treasury carved into the rose-red sandstone cliffs. This ancient Nabatean city’s intricate details and sheer grandeur left him in awe, reminding him of Jordan’s rich cultural heritage.
But what truly sets Jordan apart is its hospitality. He was welcomed with open arms and genuine smiles from the moment he arrived. The kindness and generosity of the Jordanian people made him feel like a part of their vibrant community. Whether sharing a cup of Arabic coffee or engaging in heartfelt conversations, he forged connections that transcended borders and cultures.
