Mr Lee was delighted to be invited to contribute to the British Oculoplastic Surgery Society (BOPSS) 2026 meeting in Sheffield.

On Tuesday 16 June 2026, he participated in the BOPSS Orbital Trauma Pre-Congress Course, discussing contemporary approaches to the management of orbital trauma. His presentation focused on the evolving role of patient-specific reconstruction, including the materials used in orbital reconstruction, virtual surgical planning, intra-operative navigation, and the emerging application of mixed reality technologies to improve surgical precision and outcomes in complex orbital fractures.

He was also pleased to speak in the ORBIT 2026 scientific programme, presenting our experience with customised PEEK implants and navigation systems in the management of complex orbital fractures. The session brought together an outstanding faculty of orbital surgeons and oculoplastic specialists from across the UK and internationally, highlighting current advances in orbital decompression, trauma reconstruction, and deep orbital surgery.

These meetings provide an invaluable opportunity for collaboration between oral and maxillofacial surgeons, oculoplastic surgeons, ophthalmologists, and allied specialists, ultimately improving care for patients with complex orbital injuries and deformities.

Mr Nicholas Lee was proud to host the Sheffield Maxillofacial Orbital-Zygomatic Trauma Course on 10th April 2025 at the School of Clinical Dentistry, University of Sheffield. Mr Lee had the immense privilege of returning to Materialise Malaysia. Five years seems a short time but in between we had the global pandemic but still find an enthusiastic workforce and what expansion. This visit wasn’t just a mere walkthrough; it was an intellectual feast that stimulated minds and sparked innovative conversations.

The exchange of ideas was both enlightening and refreshing. We also explored the diverse features and variations in splint designs, contrasting them with clinical practices to uncover areas for innovation and improvement. The conversation extended to guided Le Fort single-piece and segmental procedures, discussing the clinical requirements versus the digital approach to these complex surgeries.
